<p>This is a great insight.</p><p>Not to dispute Mr Sartre's words but can't a man essence precedes his existence? In the context of destined or predetermined life of a man, the path is already laid before him. Even when he believes he is free to choose a path he wishes or create a destiny he wants but unbeknownst to him, He might be plying the road still laid for him. For example, what if Eren's destiny is to be an antagonist but first, has to rise as a weakling, or rather a protagonist seeking freedom</p>

Disputes will always be fine.

The reason freewill vs determinism is still a debate is because we cannot say for certain who is predetermining anything. If we borrow from physics, at the quantum level, all physical states that govern everything have a range of probabilities and some things are more probable than others; they are however not predetermined physically – not with any certainty.

Now back to Eren. Who predetermined his life? The physical universe? God? Each option has to be justified.
