<p>Some of the things we are taught as “good behaviour” are really just rules about how a girl should make herself smaller.</p><p>Yes, and that’s the blunt truth.</p><p>Even something as simple as being told, “Don’t laugh too loudly,” “Don’t talk too much,” “Don’t dress like that,” or “What will people say?” can slowly teach a girl to constantly monitor herself.</p><p>I love that Ada didn’t wear the red lipstick to prove anyone wrong. She simply wore it because she liked it.</p><p>And that’s all that matters…</p>
