<p>This is a very sensible and important distinction.</p><p>Consent is not just about hearing “yes”, it is about whether “no” was truly available.</p><p>If someone agrees because they fear punishment, abandonment, emotional withdrawal, cheating, guilt or conflict, then we have to question how freely that agreement was made.</p><p>I especially appreciate the distinction between consent and compliance, because from the outside they can look similar,</p>
