<p>I haven't used Spotify in a while, I use YouTube Music...</p><p>...but if YouTube music tied basic listening features to a subscription, I'd definitely almost lose my mind.</p><p>The one thing that YouTube music ties to having a subscription that can be really annoying is being able to listen while you're not actively on the app...so if you close the app or lock your phone...the music stops..</p><p>But yeah, these folks will do anything they need to improve their profits/bottom line.</p><p>Welcome to TwoCents Zayn!</p>

Sounds like two annoying cousins.

Not being able to listen while you're not active on the app is diabolical, although that is not the case with spotify
