I totally understand your point. Particularly the part about some things not needing to be rooted in spirituality or the Bible before we accept or reject them..but rather just common sense yeah.

October 2015, I’m in New Jersey with my friend searching for an Airbnb, it’s Halloween period…we finally find one and it’s 2 huge bearded men looking like bikers that have their entire house decked with Halloween props, and the whole thing just looks scary… I feel so uncomfortable, but I had to..

…act like all was fine. I mean, the entire house gave this super eerie feeling, and I couldn’t just shake it off.

It took loooong before I could sleep, I kept looking around and all, the sight of my friend up and watching a video of Mark Zuckerberg speaking Mandarin put me at ease a bit….and I eventually slept.

So yeah, I do get your point about embracing and celebrating something that evokes fear, terror and all things morbid.
