Abeg, @emmanueldaniji , @stellachukwu 's response is just complicated.

Complicated it when she said both are evil, should have just stuck with "the validation for the need to withhold truth would need its context"

Both are actually wrong but "with-holding".. that depends on the context, or the person's motive

On a surface outlook, there's no difference, but on a deeper level there is.

You can just say telling a lie is intentionally saying something wrong/false, while with-holding the truth is deliberately keeping quiet about what you know, you're neither telling a lie, or the truth, prefering to keep the information to yourself.
