<p>Children wanting to spend more time with their peers is not always because of parents 'command'. Everyone would prefer to be around people who are within their age range because there is a common denominator amongst them. This is not to undermine your argument about parents not listening but just to state that, there is a lot more nuance to the parent-children relationship. You cannot be their friend but your must establish friendship, you have to listen but you still have to command.</p>
