This is a very important question.

White paint, in this context, represents blankness…erasure. When you cover a person in white, you strip away everything that makes them “them.” Their skin tone, their expressions and their identity. You turn a human being into a faceless object.

And that is exactly what child marriage does— it reduces a girl to a commodity, a bargaining chip, or a womb.
