<p>This is devastating. And I mean that as the highest compliment.</p><p>The detail that wrecked me was that he couldn’t think of a single thing to say back. Not anger, not numbness—just emptiness. That’s the realest thing I’ve read in a while.</p><p>And that ending, “Not saved. Not yet. But held” &nbsp;is perfect and sometimes, that’s worth staying for.</p>

A lot of people experience this in their lives, just existing and smiling as if nothing’s wrong going about their day

We never really know what goes on with people until they let us in and most times they don’t want to because they feel like a bother

Our protagonist is just lucky he was found by the paramedics in time.
