<p>I love how the shadow feels like more than just a supernatural detail; it feels like everything Mara had to leave behind to survive.</p><p>And the ending is beautiful because she doesn’t defeat her past; she finally stops being afraid of it. That last line stayed with me.</p><p>Sometimes healing is learning that the parts of yourself you tried to escape can still come home.</p><p>Beautifully written.</p>
