<p>The ending is what got me.</p><p>The whole time I kept wondering whether Jack was genuinely warned by the devil or whether his mind had simply found a way to justify what he wanted to do.</p><p>And that final line makes the uncertainty even better. Sometimes the scariest part of a story isn't knowing what happened; it's not knowing whether the person telling you the story can be trusted.</p>
