Interesting take. Tbh, I don't think the issue is whether the state exists or not.The real issue is who controls the power and whether they're accountable.We've seen governments protect lives, and we've also seen governments become the biggest threat to the very ppl they're meant to protect. History, even here in Nigeria, shows both sides.So maybe the question isn't "state vs state of nature," but "how do we stop power from becoming dangerous?" Solid food for thought.

but the legitimacy of power has to be first understood. legitimacy rest on protection of lives and property. since the whole point of leaving the state of nature was primarily due to uncertainty and vulnerability that arbitrary law enforcement allowed. if this current state cannot eradicate that uncertainty, then it's very clear legitimacy must be questioned.
