A lot of African homes mistake obedience for development. A child can be quiet, “respectful,” and still grow up lacking confidence, creativity, or emotional expression because every non academic interest was treated like distraction. I like that this highlights how play isn’t laziness; it’s learning in another form. The father understood that raising a child isn’t just about producing good grades, but building a full human being with skills, curiosity, discipline, and imagination.
