<p>I really like the point about leverage. If you already have an audience, numbers, identity and demand, you walk into negotiations differently from someone simply hoping a label will make them famous.</p><p>The advance section is important too. A lot of upcoming artists hear “$100k advance” and immediately think they’ve received $100k in free money. Understanding recoupment before signing is absolutely crucial.</p>
