<p>The irony is that the same things that make a neighbourhood attractive can eventually make it impossible for the people who built that community to remain there.</p><p>New buildings, better roads, more businesses... all good things until the rent goes up and suddenly the people who have called the place home for years are the ones being pushed out.</p><p>I think that's the uncomfortable part of gentrification. Development isn't necessarily the problem. It's who gets to benefit from it.</p>

This is also a good point of view. Gentrification isn't all that bad, but the people who owned the place? Driven out.
