<p>This is well written and trust me, it’s not just pharmacology students learning.</p><p>I am a Microbiology student and there’s a field of Microbiology called Pharmaceutical Microbiology.</p><p>It focuses on the study of microorganisms and their role in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines.</p><p>Now I’m curious, Can drugs be named based on their API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient)?</p><p>.</p>

Thank you. I love that we're all learning across fields.

And yes, drugs can be named based on their API. The generic name is usually the name of the API itself, while brands just use different names.
