...close marking to make sure they do their work neatly and accurately. This although being a problem for the construction manager, helps to prevent costly mistakes.

He should just have regular visits, that should suffice, this also prevents a clash of egos. Architects can be overbearing too, they need to understand that designs aren't always "buildable".
