I remember that first day of loss. It was so normal, in a sense. I’ve never been a deeply irrational person, I could think about things logically, and I did. I ate, I walked, and I acted like it was just a normal day. There were waves of sadness, yes, but I could brave it.

Midnight came, and my roommate burst into tears because of a fight she had with her babe.

I have never felt that much hate, disgust, and jealousy towards someone in my life. I was so peeved.

Strange, but that's the thing about grief. Even me reading this too felt caught off guard.

I didn’t even know I was angry. I was naive enough to think it wouldn’t deeply upset me. Since the loss, I’ve never been able to tolerate people’s pain or feel empathetic towards their suffering. In my mind, I believe I’ve suffered the worst kind of suffering in the world.

I didn’t cry, or wail, or do any of those things, but I raged and mourned in my own weird way. A way that wasn’t logical, even though I desperately wanted it to be.
