Thanks for this insightful read, even though I found the illustration somewhat conflicting. While there's nothing wrong with applying basic principles of literature when studying the Bible, a basic exegetical rule is always to compare scripture with scripture; far more internally superior criticisms/support than can be gained through most outside interpretative help. Case in point, the serpent was not the only animal in the Bible to speak. The donkey of Balaam in Numbers 22:28-30 also spoke.

educated, and that would mean that upon the inspiration to write, his natural intellect and disposition would come into play. Just look at how the 4 authors of the synoptic wrote about the same event. BR, 4/4

Jesus, then Paul. Would help you see Gen 1-3 as Moses' doctrine in a gem/seed form, else, light would dim as you try to make literally what's figurative employed for teaching. Land, Tree, Fruit, Eat, Open eyes. Let me add a 3rd. 3) Again, it's not EITHER or...OR... can be this and that. That you employ scripture to scriptures law of interpretation doesn't mean other approaches won't come in handy. And can even be as important. For instance, just knowing that Moses is a human being,... 3/x

scriptures revolving around the same narratives. So, you'd have been better off FOLLOWING the pattern of how the word 'serpent' was used THROUGHOUT scriptures. It's a trend, a teaching narrative. And there was a reason why Moses used serpent - his Exodus audience who had a similar background in Egypt understood what he alluded to, moreso the Serpent speaking. I'd give you some help...Rev 12:9; Serpent, Devil/Satan, Deceive. But you'd have to have seen how Moses repeatedly uses it, then... 2/x

Hello. So two things... 1) It's not a case of 'EITHER OR', that a donkey spoke to Balaam (which was a miracle/supernatural for which there was need for it) does not in anyway suggest or negate that Moses who is another independent personality could have been using a writing mechanism when he wrote, involving a serpent 🤷‍♂️ 2) Now, you said well about comparing scriptures with scriptures, question is, comparing what scriptures to what scriptures (to find meaning)? Has to be... 1/x
