<p>I agree with the larger point that we need to be careful about assigning responsibility for such a complex event to one person or one country. At the same time, I think the British role in Nigeria’s political and military history deserves serious examination, even if we distinguish that from saying Queen Elizabeth II personally caused the war.</p>
