<p>This is deeply unsettling because of how quietly abuse can hide behind apologies, affection, and the words, “He never hit me.” The strongest part for me is how you showed that abuse isn't only the bruises, it’s the fear, the shrinking, the excuses, and slowly learning to rename what happened. “I mistook his gentleness for goodness” is such a powerful line.
