From my perspective, naivety is lacking experience/exposure and good understanding of the world and people. For instance, a naive person trust to much, cling to people quickly, gullible and can easily be swayed or used by people because they don't understand how the world operates.

But in this story sense, she's not naive but called naive just because she didn't fit into certain demands considered as a necessity for exposure.
