Can you excuse yourself from meetings you don't want to be part of? And honestly I think people should stop making decisions based of themselves but in consideration of every other person except themselves</p>

Love this. And you're not wrong. I used to think the same.

To your question: yes, you absolutely can excuse yourself,but don't just disappear. Say something like "I trust this group to move forward, just loop me in on decisions" or "I'll review notes and chime in async." That's not selfish—that's respecting everyone's time.

And your second point? Spot on. Decisions shouldn't be about "what I want." They should be about "who's not in the room and what do they need?"
