<p>I honestly love discovering stories like this. We hear so much about the men who fought during colonial times, but women like Mekatilili were out there resisting too.</p><p>The part where she escaped exile and made her way back home?? 😭 That kind of determination is actually insane. She wasn’t just fighting for herself, she was fighting for her people, their land and their culture.</p><p>History really has so many women whose names deserve to be remembered.</p>
