<p>Oh my gosh! This one really got to me. The town feels like the kind of place a child would create when home becomes too demanding and painful. I love how the rain keeps returning as a doorway to safety, and how the ending brings everything full circle. The narrator once needed someone to say, “you’re safe here,” and now they’re that person for another child. Beautifully written.</p>
