Honestly, patient compliance is very important.

The only reason I completed the course of my medication is because I know what will happen if I don't. Now imagine a layman that doesn't know what will happen, once the drug is too bitter to tolerate, they'll stop. And that leads to therapeutic failure.....no matter how effective the drug is.
