<p>...so saying that the Grace is an extension of God's love I feel is right, but I don't know what the writer literally means in that context...</p><p>For mercy and grace</p><p>Mercy - is to forgive, have compassion on someone or something, to be lenient about probably a punishment due to the person defaulting a task given to him/her, but grace is to give extra chance to the person, or more time to get it done, allowances that you know this person might default, but have more time, to redeem yourself.</p>
