Thank you @cyrusmajebi
This way, there's a higher chance you'd be able to maintain your true nature (identity) and maybe budge on the small(er) things (preferences).
Now, if we're talking lover, partner etc. I'd say, be selfish, put yourself first, and then first again..and understand that compromise with a lover or partner shouldn't ever make you lose yourself.
If you find yourself losing yourself (forgive the word salad), then please, run.
@ofonimekoko
Erhhh. It's a tricky one. Life has shown me things as regards this, to the point where the more I experience, the less I'm sure of.
But, I think you're spot on with "I can compromise on preferences, not indentity".
This is something I think about a lot, and recently I got to the end of a road where I tried to change someone...I tried ad nauseum. Then I stopped altogether.
In the end, I'd say be around people in the same values, IQ, exposure, sensibilities (looks? Lol) bracket as yourself...
@timileyinadeoye Thank you, I really appreciate that!
About adjustments, I believe it’s okay to grow, evolve, and become more self-aware. But changing my personality just to please someone? That’s a no for me. I can compromise on preferences, but not on identity. The right people won’t need me to shrink or become someone else to be accepted. That's my thought.
@cyrusmajebi, what do you think?
Hi @timileyinadeoye .
I don't feel adjustments should bee made for anybody @ofonimekoko
You are YOU, do YOU and be YOU.
Trust me, the people that'll stay, will stay.
I for one, do not adjust my personality for certain people, I feel it'll still show at the end. So what's the point.
And when you say certain people, what set do you classify? Friends? Older people?
