<p>I just read that the sickle cell disease was caused by a mutation in the genes of likely a new born child in West Africa, thousands of years ago...the mutation was actually supposed to combat malaria which was at the time, a highly life threathening sickness. What was meant to be good, has turned out not so.</p>
