That must have hurt the young boy so bad 😔.</p><p>Thanks <a class="tc-blue" href="/public_profile-favour-nwaoru-4102/">@favournwaoru</a></p><p>The advocacy for genotype awareness has to get louder.</p><p>But, as a medical laboratory professional, I have come to see that when some visit the medical laboratory for genotype testing, they do not get accurate results. Some who have the SS pattern are declared as AS or worse - AA, because the laboratory process was not a validated accurate process.</p><p>So, in some cases, couples are not at fault.</p>

Yup. It happens.

I recently had a case of a lady who argued that her genotype result was not S. She felt we were wrong because all her life she always thought she was AA. We sent her for advanced tests and it turns she was in fact predominantly S.

Interestingly, she was already set to marry someone whose genotype was AS.

Some laboratories are simply yet to accept that a method like Cellulose acetate is not accurate.
