Wo. You people should actually let me rest. 😭 Every time it’s, “New insight!” “Write another one!” “Part 2?” When will you people ask me if I want ₦10k, ₦100k or ₦1 million? Anyway, since you people won’t give me ₦1 million, 😔✋🏾 let me gist you about something that’s been on my mind… Money. Specifically, how to make an unreasonable amount of it. Because somehow every train of thought I have these days ends at the same station: “What exactly am I doing with my life?” And the thing is, I don’t even want billionaire money. I just want the kind of money where my bank app opens without me preparing emotionally. (Typing this with ₦100 in my account.) Every time I open social media, someone is saying, “You’re one skill away from making six figures a month.” Which skill, my brethren? Please be specific. Or if they do specify it, it’s usually attached to a Telegram or WhatsApp link where you’ll have to pay for coaching. Talmbout, “The course is ₦50,000.” My brother, if I had ₦50,000, would we be having this conversation? Which brings me to my point. Why do we need money to make money? Seriously, it doesn’t make sense to me. I’m looking for money because I don’t have any. Why is the first step to getting money… spending money? 😭 Anyway, one random night I woke up with motivation. (I was hungry.) And I said, why not look for internships? Paid ones, to be exact. Even if it’s remote. I started drafting emails. Even to EbonyLife. <img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/IMG_3412.jpeg"/> At that point, I had reached the stage of desperation where I was ready to apply for anything that didn’t involve selling my kidney. (Let me not lie… I considered it.) Note: Hunger is a fantastic career coach. Highly effective. Wouldn’t recommend the method, though. Update: I still have both kidneys. The internship search was slightly more realistic. (They haven’t replied.) After the night of applying everywhere and creating the most creative CV known to man… I’ve been scrolling through TikTok trying to figure out what to do next. (God punish MTN… na me finish my data. I’m just saying that to feel among.) 🤣 I’m checking my email every day. (Under Spam too. In case Google wants to hide my blessings.) At this point, I believe my For You Page has been making fun of me. Every other video is: “I bought my first house at 19…” (Stings because I’m 20.) “GRWM to go to work…” (EbonyLife, abeg answer nau. 😔) “How I made my first $5,000…” TikTok, please. Show me the one for people who are starting with vibes, ₦100, a stomach full of motivation, and absolutely no food. I’m not even looking for a shortcut. (I’d heavily appreciate one though. 👀) I’m looking for something I’ll genuinely enjoy. Something I can rely on for the basics. Long term, even. Because this degree I’m chasing is running really fast, and I think it’s time I started creating my own path to the finish line. So, genuinely… What are you people doing for money?
