A POEM
<p>Whole Before Love</p><p><br/></p><p>I am not an unfinished story,</p><p>not a puzzle missing pieces.</p><p>I am the ink, the paper, the poet </p><p>a full chapter even before you came.</p><p><br/></p><p>I was already light,</p><p>already fire,</p><p>already enough.</p><p>But when you walked in,</p><p>you did not complete me, </p><p>you reflected me.</p><p>And in your eyes,</p><p>I saw my own brilliance magnified.</p><p><br/></p><p>Love is not rescue,</p><p>it is recognition.</p><p>It is the gentle truth of two souls</p><p>choosing to walk together,</p><p>not because they are broken,</p><p>but because they are whole</p><p>and still long to intertwine.</p><p><br/></p><p>Do not mistake my heart for weakness;</p><p>I carry storms behind my ribs.</p><p>To love me is not to fix me</p><p>it is to stand beside me</p><p>while I bloom in my own season.</p><p><br/></p><p>I will never beg for love,</p><p>for I am love itself.</p><p>My worth does not rest in your hands,</p><p>it rests in the stars that birthed me.</p><p>But if you are wise enough to hold me,</p><p>know this</p><p>I will not dim myself to fit small places.</p><p>I will shine,</p><p>and I will expect you</p><p>to shine beside me.</p><p><br/></p><p>So here is my vow:</p><p>with or without you,</p><p>I am golden.</p><p>But with you,</p><p>my gold becomes fire,</p><p>my light becomes flame,</p><p>and together we are</p><p>the kind of love</p><p>that poems envy.</p>
