Deniem pulled back slowly, his eyes searching hers like he was waiting for permission or punishment.</p><p><br/></p><p>But Aisha couldn’t say a word. Her heart was thumping like drums in a village wedding, and her breath? Scattered.</p><p><br/></p><p>“I didn’t mean to—” Deniem started.</p><p><br/></p><p>Aisha interrupted quietly, “But you did.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Silence again. Awkward. Heavy. Sweet.</p><p><br/></p><p>He stepped back, giving her space. “I’ll go,” he said, voice low.</p><p><br/></p><p>She nodded, still not trusting her voice. But as he turned, her hand lightly caught his wrist.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Don’t,” she whispered.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just that one word.</p><p><br/></p><p>He stayed.</p><p><br/></p><p>That night, neither of them slept fully. Messages weren’t sent. But hearts?
