AMEN WITHOUT LOVE IS NOISE
<p><br/></p><p>They pray.</p><p>They shout amen.</p><p>They say God’s name.</p><p><br/></p><p>They pray,</p><p>but their hands shake with anger.</p><p>They shout amen,</p><p>but their voices bruise the air at home.</p><p>They say God’s name,</p><p>but forget His heart.</p><p><br/></p><p>Religion on the tongue,</p><p>violence in the veins.</p><p>Scripture in the mouth,</p><p>stones in the hands.</p><p><br/></p><p>They kneel in holy places,</p><p>they stand in their homes as kings of fear,</p><p>queens of control.</p><p>They bow to God in public,</p><p>they rise as monsters in private.</p><p><br/></p><p>Amen without love is noise.</p><p><br/></p><p>A husband who lifts prayer</p><p>but drops compassion</p><p>To lifts the same hands over his wife.</p><p>is a well with no water.</p><p>A wife who fasts from dawn to dusk</p><p>but feeds her home with poison</p><p>is a candle that burns the house instead of lighting it.</p><p><br/></p><p>They say, “God knows my heart,”</p><p>yet their spouse sleeps in with tears for pillows.</p><p>They say, “Be patient, this is faith,”</p><p>yet patience is bleeding,</p><p>and faith is limping.</p><p><br/></p><p>Control is not leadership.</p><p>Silence is not submission.</p><p>Endurance is not love.</p><p><br/></p><p>Control is a cage.</p><p>Silence is a grave.</p><p>Endurance without kindness is slow death.</p><p><br/></p><p>Marriage was not designed</p><p>as an altar for daily sacrifice,</p><p>where one soul dies quietly</p><p>so another can feel righteous.</p><p><br/></p><p>If your prayer does not soften you,</p><p>it has not reached heaven.</p><p>Call God and pack it back</p><p>If your fasting does not teach mercy,</p><p>it has not fed your spirit.</p><p>If your religion does not make you gentle,</p><p>Your Google map as misled you </p><p><br/></p><p>God is not impressed</p><p>by long prayers and short tempers.</p><p>God is not moved</p><p>by holy clothes and unholy homes.</p><p><br/></p><p>White smiling teeth with devil hearts</p><p>Let your faith touch your tone.</p><p>Let your worship reach your walls.</p><p>Let your religion enter your marriage.</p><p><br/></p><p>Pray again,</p><p>but pray until you change.</p><p>Fast again,</p><p>but fast from cruelty.</p><p>Believe again,</p><p>but believe in love.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because a holy ring</p><p>on a violent finger</p><p>is still violence.</p><p><br/></p><p>The worst of all beans are the religious bad beans</p>
