BE READY TO SURVIVE ALONE (Anthropomorphic Fiction)

CUCUMBER TERRITORY

In the soft expanse of Cucumber Territory, where morning dew glowed like tiny pearls and vines curled around each other like lovers sharing secrets, lived Cuculina, a maiden whose gentle eyes brightened even the quietest corners of the land. Her laughter flowed like warm breeze, and the territory always softened when she walked through it.

Her world once sparkled with a love that felt perfect. His name was Cumeron, a celebrated warrior of the Northern Vines. When he stood beside her, the entire territory seemed to listen.

Cuculina adored walking with him beneath the tall vine trees. He held her hand with a mix of pride and tenderness. And he spoke to her heart with a confidence that made her feel chosen above all.

One golden evening, he brushed a strand of vine hair from her face and whispered:

“If there are a thousand paths, I choose the one that leads to your heart.”

Another evening, as the fireflies danced around them, he said softly:

“When I look at you, I see peace. I see home.”

His love was warm, bold, and unforgettable.

No one, not even Cuculina, could have imagined it would vanish.

But one morning, Cumeron simply stopped coming.

The first day, she waited with a smile.

The second day, she waited with curiosity.

The third day, the vines seemed unusually quiet.

By the seventh day, she no longer understood what she felt.

Weeks went by and whispers spread.

He was gone.

Without a word.

Without a reason.

Life shifted quietly around her.

She kept her heart steady, never letting anyone see the unanswered questions inside her.

Time, however, has a way of healing even the softest wounds, and destiny brought someone unexpected into her life.

Cucuron.

A gentle cucumber with warm eyes and a voice that soothed rather than stirred. His presence felt like calm rain after a long drought. One evening, he approached her while the Demfall Wind hummed through the vines.

“Cuculina,” he said, “you glow beautifully even on days you think you do not.”

She blinked softly.

“I do not want to replace anything you once felt. I only want to bring you peace whenever your heart allows it.”

He touched her hand gently and whispered:

“If love is a garden, let me be the one who tends to your flowers patiently.”

In his presence, her heart learned how to breathe again.

Slowly.

Safely.

Quietly.

But one misty morning, destiny returned what she never expected to see again.

Cumeron.

He stood before her, breathless, eyes dim with regret, shoulders trembling under the weight of his return.

“Cuculina,” he whispered, “let me love you again.”

She looked at him calmly, not with anger, but with a question that had lived quietly in her heart.

“What did you chase that made you leave without a word” she asked.

“You were a great warrior, Cumeron. Respected. Honored. A warrior should not be a liar. Tell me what you chased.”

His breath broke.

He looked away, ashamed.

His voice trembled.

“Cuculina, I… I chased. I chased. I chased something I did not understand.”

Her eyes narrowed gently.

“What did you chase”

Suddenly, the mighty warrior of the Northern Vines fell to his knees before her.

He cried openly, tears dropping onto the soil.

“I chased a yellow cucumber,” he confessed.

“Her name was Cucudoggie. I thought she shined brighter than everything I ever had. I thought her glow meant greatness.”

He wiped his eyes with shaking hands.

“I did not know she was meant to destroy me. I did not know she laughed at me behind my back. I did not know she planned to ruin everything I built.”

His voice cracked.

“She promised me glory. She promised me a future. She told me she could give me more than you. I believed her. I chased her until I lost myself. She took everything. She mocked the love I abandoned.”

He looked up at Cuculina, broken.

“When she was done using me, she threw me away. I remembered your kindness. Your softness. Your love. Cuculina, forgive me. Let me return. Let me love you again.”

Cuculina listened silently.

Her heart did not tremble.

She simply turned away and walked to the Territory Wise One.

She knelt before him.

“My past has returned,” she said softly. “What should I do”

The Wise One studied her with deep, timeless eyes.

“My child,” he began gently, “you only go back to what left you to be left again. They come back when their journey fails, not because they finally saw your worth.”

His words rested heavily but truthfully.

“Cumeron left you for a glow that did not last. Cucuron brings you calm that endures. Choose the heart that stayed, not the one that wandered.”

Cuculina returned to the vines where Cucuron waited, his eyes full of quiet patience.

He opened his arms gently and whispered:

“If your heart comes to me slowly, I will wait. If it comes trembling, I will steady it. If it comes wounded, I will heal it. I will love you in all the ways you were made to be loved.”

And under the soft green canopy of Cucumber Territory, Cuculina chose the love that stayed, the love that healed, the love that did not disappear when life became difficult.

And for the first time in a long time, she knew peace.
