Curiosity Made Me Ask: When Sarcasm Became an Olympic Sport

Now, before I even start bragging that I watched three out of six episodes of Curiosity Made Me Ask in August, let’s first talk about the man behind the madness—Isbae_u

Typing his name alone makes my fingers itch. Maybe it’s because if I recall all the things people have said about him, I might start laughing in public again. But let’s just say it plainly: BaeU is truly a man of many… questionable titles.

From “Failed Musician” to “Skit Maker Extraordinaire”

Normally, when you hear “a man of many titles,” you expect something like Honourable this or Chief that. But for BaeU? Think more along the lines of: failed musician, skit maker, sarcasm ambassador, and now tab-tapping interviewer.

Once upon a time, he was just another polytechnic student chasing the music dream. Nigeria, however, quickly returned the mic and said: “Oga, abeg carry camera instead.” Thank God he listened. Because instead of another struggling artiste, we now have one of the most unpredictable interview shows on YouTube.

Not Your Everyday Interview

Curiosity Made Me Ask is not the typical “tell us about your childhood trauma” kind of show. It’s roast meets sarcasm meets awkward banter. Guests don’t just answer questions, they dodge verbal bullets, flip insults, and sometimes sit there wondering, “Why did I even agree to this?”

That’s the charm. To spar with sarcasm, turn insults into punchlines, and survive BaeU’s wicked grin? That takes real brainpower. And honestly, respect to anyone who comes out looking like the winner.

The Guest List: Chaos Meets Celebrity

August delivered a mix. Whitemoney, Daddy Freeze, and Broda Shaggi held my attention the most. Whitemoney was so prepared he even called Timaya mid-episode, only for Timaya to bluntly say he wasn’t coming. I almost rolled off my chair. Daddy Freeze came armed with fire too, and for a moment, I thought his episode might dethrone my favorite.

But no one beats Frank Edoho. The legendary “Is that your final answer?” host didn’t just survive, he owned BaeU on his own show. While most guests were ducking sarcasm, Edoho went head-to-head, no flinching, no folding. For that one episode, it felt like Curiosity Made Me Ask had been hijacked. In fact, it was Nigeria’s own remix of Between Two Ferns, only with pidgin, gbas gbos, and Edoho leading the charge.

The BaeU Paradox

Here’s the irony though: while the show thrives, BaeU himself never escapes controversy. He’s fond of saying he’s “giving celebrities a platform.” And to be fair, he does, guests plug movies, albums, and brand deals.

But this is Nigeria, and Nigerians never forget. The “sex-for-roles” gist still hangs around him like an ancestral curse. People tune in as much for the laughs as they do to catch him slipping.

Yet, love him or hate him, you can’t deny the man understands content. In a country where our leaders stress us from Monday to Monday, Curiosity Made Me Ask is that unplanned therapy session you didn’t know you needed.

Final Answer?

If you’ve never watched it, this is your official invitation. But like Whitemoney joked, “What if celebrities finish?” Until then, we’ll keep moving, and keep laughing.

As usual, flowers to our humble host BaeU Barbie. And thank you for coming to Dan’s Insights on TwoCents. ✍🏿

---

TwoCents Takeaway:
In a land where stress is free and laughter is premium, Isbae_u just might be Nigeria’s cheapest subscription to joy.
