They clung to each other, confused and frightened, their young hearts struggling to understand why love sounded so cruel.</p><p>Ellie slowly sank to the floor, her strength finally giving way. In that moment, she realised she was alone alone in a house that was supposed to be a home. The children remained silent witnesses, carrying memories no child should have to bear, as the night closed in around them.</p>
