I Thought It Was Love

Maybe it was love,

Or something close enough to make my heart believe,

The way your name felt softer

Every time it sat with me.

I didn’t plan to notice you,

It just happened, unaware,

Like my heart grew curious

Anytime you were there.

You spoken and something shifted,

Not loud, but deep and slow,

Like a quiet kind of magic

Only soft hearts get to know.

I started saving moments,

Little things you’d say,

Replaying them like music

At the ending of my day.

I told myself, “It’s nothing,”

But my silence said much more,

Because I found myself waiting

For footsteps at the door.

Maybe it was love,

Or just the way you made me feel seen,

Like I existed louder

Somewhere in between.

No grand confessions,

No promises to keep,

Just a thousand tiny feelings

I was learning not to speak.

Mo ro pe mo mo ife, (I thought I knew love)

But how could I be sure?

When everything felt fragile,

And nothing felt secure.

So I called it “just a moment,”

Just a phase that came and went,

But my heart kept quiet records

Of the time we never spent.

And maybe that’s the beauty

Or the danger of it all,

How something never spoken

Can still feel so full.

Maybe it was love,

Not the kind that loudly stays,

But the kind that leaves a question

You remember for days.

And even now, I wonder,

If I named it something else,

Would it have stayed longer

Or still become a story

I only tell myself?

Maybe it wasn’t love

But whatever it was

It changed me.
