IN CURRENCY WE TRUST, IN IGNORANCE WE DWELL

"Olodo Uprising" sounds like a joke, but the punchline is dangerously real.

When we look closely at our current media space, the outcome is hard to ignore. As a collective, we have become addicted to quick laughs, digital brain rot, and cheap dopamine. The algorithms recognize this craving and continuously feed it, rewarding creators who lean into noise over substance.

In the process, abnormal trends become normalized, while standard intellectual engagement is viewed as foreign or boring. "Peller culture" isn't a myth, it is a live case study in how attention shapes values. What we give our eyes and ears to ultimately shapes our minds. Consciously or subconsciously, we are building an ecosystem that elevates "cruise" and dismisses critical thinking.

The symptoms are everywhere: we make fraudsters trend, national academic benchmarks like JAMB cut-offs steadily drop, and societal standards erode in plain sight. Yet, critical voices are quickly silenced with a superficial question: "You get money reach am?"

But as the old saying goes: "Don’t be so poor that the only thing you have is money."

In the end, we cannot blame the algorithm alone; we built this system. We aren't rewarding authenticity, we are rewarding ignorance wrapped in entertainment. But recognizing the crisis is the first step toward fixing it, and there is still hope.
