IS THERE STILL TRUE LOVE!?

I gave you versions of me

that I was still trying to understand

unpolished, unguarded,

still learning how to be loved

without apologizing for it.

You saw me…

or at least I thought you did.

Because the way you looked at me

felt like home

and I was tired of being a visitor

in every heart I walked into.

So I stayed.

I stayed through the inconsistencies,

through the late replies that carried silence,

through the “I’m just busy”

that slowly started to feel like

“I’m just not choosing you.”

But love… love makes you patient in dangerous ways.

It teaches you how to water dead plants

and call it hope.

I memorized your patterns,

made excuses for your absence,

turned your bare minimum

into something worth holding onto.

And the scary part?

I convinced myself it was enough.

You became a habit

not the good kind,

but the kind that slowly ruins you

while feeling impossible to quit.

I lost sleep trying to understand you,

lost pieces of myself trying to keep you,

lost my voice

because I didn’t want to sound like a problem.

Tell me

how do you miss someone

who made you feel alone

even when they were right there?

How do you grieve a person

who didn’t actually leave,

but just stopped loving you out loud?

That kind of heartbreak…

it’s quiet,

it doesn’t shatter all at once

it fades you.

And one day you wake up

and realize

you’ve been mourning

while still in the relationship.

I should’ve left

the moment I started begging

for the kind of love

that once came naturally.

But I stayed…

hoping you’d remember me

the way I remembered you.

Now I’m here

picking up pieces

you don’t even know you broke,

learning how to pour back into myself

without feeling guilty for it.

Healing isn’t beautiful.

It’s messy,

it’s lonely,

it’s crying over memories

you wish you never made.

But I’m trying.

Trying to unlearn

the version of love you taught me

the one where I had to earn affection,

where I had to shrink

just to be held.

And maybe one day

I’ll love again…

not like this,

never like this.

Because next time,

I won’t beg to be chosen

I’ll walk away

the moment I feel

I’m being slowly forgotten.
