Good evening friends, today I am thrilled to share a story that will spark your curiosity, ignite your interest, and leave you eager for more. Are you ready? If so, let's dive in!

                              IT

I took a selfie.

And just before I set off, I took a half-hearted glance at the picture. It was blurry but I imagined seeing myself in it and I skipped checking properly as I was running late.

I dashed out of the house. The girls should have been waiting and I really couldn't wait for the picnic to start.

It was a summer afternoon, and everything was great, as it seemed. The girls and I had planned for this weeks ago and finally! It was our time off and truth be told, we needed a break. What better way to spend the day than with a girls' trip? We were so excited.

I hurriedly got on the train but there was almost no seat left. As I looked around I discovered there was one, in the corner, in the middle.

"That'll do", I smiled as I walked to the seat.

Still on the train, I decided to take another selfie but before I could see how I looked and critique my photography skills, I got a call from the girls.

“Hey! Where are you?. We'll start without you! The chocolates are melting”.

“Lex”, I sighed. “You’re not even there yet.”

“How’d you know that?”

“I can see your background”

“Oh”, she replied with a chuckle. I giggled too.

“Alright, see you both soon”. I ended the call.

I took a look at the picture. It was beautiful just as I expected. I adjusted the strands of hair on my eyebrow, applied more lip gloss and wiped my tooth with my thumb.

We finally arrived at our destination for the picnic, minutes after one another. We chatted, laughed heartily(more than we've done in a long time), played games and ate. The meals and snacks were delicious! Thanks to Anna.

“Let's take a selfie”, I said.

“Sure!”, they replied excitedly.

Click.

“Now, let's see”, I said.

We laughed and pointed at different things in the background. It was all great until Lex's smile disappeared.

“What's that?” She asked, calmly.

“What’s what?” I questioned.

“That!, right there. What's that?” She asked again, this time raising her voice.

I zoomed in the picture. I wasn't sure what that was so I scrolled. It was in the next picture, and the previous.

I checked the first picture I took that day, it was there but blurry and then I checked the last picture…

I saw it clearly.

Fear shivered down my spine. I could feel the goosebumps.

“Run”.
