IT WASN'T ABOUT THE BICYCLE

We all wanted to have one as kids, well maybe not everyone but I know I did.. "come first in class and we'll get you one" mummy said, and every single term I looked forward to it.

Finally, guess who came first😅, me!! And you know what that means, I'm finally gonna have one of those two wheeled vehicles all the kids had, oh the fantasies in my head already, I'll ride from the gate to the main street and maybe just maybe I could even ride all the way to school.

I know I worked really hard to come first, did all my assignments, read like my life depended on it, didn't even fail a question on the tests, why? Well I wanted that bicycle. Ran all the way home with my report card in hand, joy all in my heart "mummy, daddy, I came first! I came first!" I was expecting hugs, celebration, and yes my bicycle but I was far from reality, "you came first, well it's because the kids in your class aren't smart enough" those words tore my hopes up into pieces.. I wasn't a cranky kid, I wouldn't have made a fuss if I didn't get the bicycle, I really wouldn't have..... a "congratulations, we're proud of you" would have been just fine but oh well...... i guess they didn't see it that way
