Light in the Intervals

They say there’s light at the end of the tunnel,

but some of us have walked long enough to know

that the end isn’t glowing —

it’s just silent.

No grand reveal,

no heavenly spotlight waiting to swallow the darkness.

Just the one truth everyone tries to outrun:

the tunnel ends where life ends.

But along the way…

there are flickers.

Small blinks of light that appear for a second,

then vanish before you can hold them.

A laugh you didn’t expect.

A memory that feels warm for no reason.

A moment so soft it almost makes you forget

how heavy everything else is.

Those are the real lights —

not the mythical one at the end,

but the tiny sparks scattered through the journey.

Because if we’re being honest,

the future is a long, shadowed hallway,

and the end is the same for all of us.

But the middle?

That’s where the magic hides.

In the short bursts of happiness

that hit you like lightning in the dark.

In the little things that make you stay.

In the tiny glimmers that remind you

you’re still here

still breathing

still feeling

even if everything else feels hollow.

There may never be a blinding light waiting for us.

But there are moments —

sharp, brief, beautiful —

that make the darkness bearable.

And maybe that’s all the light

we were ever meant to find.

The End.

Credits: Confidential 🙂
