I stumbled on a woman’s post today, she was apologizing for the way she once spoke to people when she didn’t understand their pain, and it hit me harder than I expected because most of us are guilty of that without even knowing, we think we’re helping, we think we’re correcting, but many times we’re speaking from comfort, not experience, from assumptions, not understanding, from distance, not empathy

Truth is, life looks easy when you’re not the one carrying the load, advice sounds simple when you’re not the one being squeezed by reality, and judgement flows freely when your heart hasn’t tasted the heat of another person’s struggle

Before you say “I would have handled it better”, pause

Before you conclude “It’s not that deep”, breathe

Before you open your mouth to judge a pain you’ve never lived, remember that the battle you don’t fight is the battle you can’t explain.

Stop judging others or advising them when you’ve never been in their shoes, it’s the person in the shoes that can tell how it feels, not you.

📷 A screenshot from one of her slides.
