My Mirror Keeps Showing an Old Woman Standing Behind Me (Episode 4)

Episode 4

I stood in front of the mirror… my heart was beating like something was about to break through the glass.

For a moment, I saw nothing. Just my reflection. Just the quiet room behind me.

But then I blinked. And she appeared. The old woman. Standing behind me again… still… silent… watching.

This time, I didn’t run. I forced myself to look closer.

Her face…

her posture…

her eyes…

Something about her felt familiar. I leaned in slowly, breath shaking. And then it hit me. She looked like Rita.

Not the Rita I knew now… but an aged version of her. A worn, heartbroken version.

The moment I realized it, the reflection vanished. Gone. Like it had only appeared long enough for me to understand.

My mother was right. This wasn’t normal. This wasn’t imagination. It was a sign.

That night, I couldn’t sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw the old woman’s face, and Rita’s sadness hidden inside it.

The next morning, I drove straight to Rita’s house. When she opened the door… I froze.

She was crying. Crying so bitterly her hands shook.

“You’ve seen it, haven’t you?” she whispered.

“Now you know. Now you’ll leave me…

just like the others.” Her voice broke.

“Rita… I came to find the truth,” I said.

“I didn’t come to run.”

She stared at me for a long moment, tears streaming. Then she stepped aside and let me in. We sat down, and for the first time since we met… she told me everything.

“Whenever a relationship gets serious, the men start acting strange. They say I look different. Older. Some say they see an old woman in my place. Some say I change at night.

And then they all leave.”

She wiped her eyes.

“I went for help. After buying some things, they told me I was fine. So I tried again… and again…

but every man left before marriage. Every single one.”

Her voice cracked.

“Meeting you gave me hope. But seeing that look on your face… when you told me about what you saw… I knew it was happening again.

I don’t want to lose you. I need help too.”

I looked at her

“I’m not running,” I said softly.

“We’ll fix this. Together.”

She broke down in my arms, holding me like someone who had been drowning for years.

I made some calls.

I told my mother everything.

She connected us with the right people.

And for the first time in Rita’s life…

someone stayed long enough

to help her heal.

The process took time. Prayers. Guidance. Understanding.

But slowly…

the weight she carried began to lift.

And one morning, as I stood in front of my mirror, I realized something.

There was no old woman.

Just me.

Just peace.

Just a future.

A few months later…

Rita and I got married.

Her relatives couldn’t believe it.

No one ever stayed long enough to reach that point.

But I did.

And she lived a happy life, free at last. No more old woman in the mirror. No more fear. No more mystery. Just love. Just healing. Just us.

The End.

Expect another story soon.p
