My Wife Took My Shadow

Episode 1

The first time I noticed my shadow was gone… was in the morning.

It happened on an ordinary day, the sun was bright, the house quiet.

I was leaving for a meeting when I noticed it… my shadow didn’t move.

It stood still, flat against the wall, like it refused to follow me.

I brushed it off. Maybe it was just the light.

But when I stepped outside, there was nothing, no reflection, no shape beneath my feet.

Just sunlight… and emptiness. It felt like a part of me had stayed behind.

I froze, confused, but I was already late.

So I hurried off, though my mind couldn’t stop replaying what I saw.

That evening, I told my wife.

She didn’t look surprised.

She just smiled and said, “Maybe it’s tired of you.”

“Oh honey, I’m serious,” I said. “This means something.”

“Maybe you’re the one not seeing it.” she replied softly.

I stood up. “Then look, tell me what you see.”

She smiled again. “I can see it perfectly.”

But when I turned, there was nothing.

“Maybe you’re just stressed,” she said.

But I wasn’t.

The next day, I told my friends.

They laughed at first, until they checked.

Then I saw the fear on their faces.

None of them spoke. They just… walked away.

That night, I couldn’t sleep. I felt empty.

The next morning, I noticed something strange, every time my wife moved, her shadow looked darker. Heavier. Almost like it had swallowed something.

I kept watching her quietly, wondering if this was normal. I wanted to ask her… but just then, my phone rang. It was my friend.

After a short chat, he said,

“I always see your wife passing my street at night. Why don’t you walk with her sometime?”

I forced a smile. “She’s just working out.”

“Workout?” he chuckled softly. Then, after a pause, his tone changed. “Alright… if you say so.”

That night, I decided to follow her but from afar.

She walked quietly down the road until she stopped at an old, lonely house.

She looked around, making sure no one was watching, then went inside, like she had been there many times before.

I waited a few seconds, then walked up and raised my hand to knock.

But before I could touch the door,

a cold hand rested on my shoulder.

I turned… and froze.

To be continued
