Nobody Told Us Life Would Be This Hard After School….
<p>One of the most underrated transitions in life? The shift from school to reality.</p><p>You graduate.</p><p>For a moment, everything feels perfect. The pictures come first. The smiles. The congratulations. The “we’re proud of you” messages.</p><p>It feels like you’ve finally arrived. After all the stress, the late nights, the sacrifices, and the uncertainty…<span style="background-color: transparent;">You made it or at least, you think you have.</span></p><p>I’ll remember that feeling too, one day. Not just as a student from the University of Ilorin, but as someone quietly navigating the phases nobody sees. Someone still trying to understand his own story, even while the world expects clarity. A<span style="background-color: transparent;"> storyteller in the making, </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">A voice still growing. </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">A young man with big dreams but no clear plan. </span><span style="background-color: transparent;"> </span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;"><br/></span></p><p><strong><span style="background-color: transparent;">After the celebration, life gets real</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">. </span></strong></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;">No</span><span style="background-color: transparent;"> one prepares you for that part. There’s no more structured timetable. </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">No clear direction. </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">No one telling you what’s next. Ju</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">st you and reality, Ju</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">st you and a world that suddenly expects you to have everything figured out.</span></p><p>Then it begins.</p><p><em><strong>The comparison.</strong></em></p><p>You open your phone. Suddenly, everyone seems to be moving.</p><p>Someone just got a job. </p><p>Someone just traveled abroad. </p><p>Someone is already “successful.” </p><p>Someone is building something big.</p><p>And you?</p><p>You’re trying. </p><p>You’re thinking. </p><p>You’re planning.</p><p>But it feels like you’re stuck in the same place.</p><br/><p>Let’s be honest., this phrase <span style="background-color: transparent;">can break you if you don’t understand it.</span></p><p>Slowly, the questions start coming:</p><p>“Am I wasting time?” </p><p>“Did I choose the wrong path?” </p><p>“Am I not working hard enough?”</p><p>“Why is my life not making sense yet?”</p><p>And the question that hits the hardest: </p><p>“Am I already behind?”</p><p>But here’s the truth I’ve come to understand and I wish more people would say out loud:</p><p>You are not behind.  You'<span style="background-color: transparent;">re just in a phase that nobody talks about.</span></p><p>The “in-between.”</p><p>You’re no longer who you used to be, but you’re not yet who you’re becoming. W<span style="background-color: transparent;">hat you are experiencing is not failure. I</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">t is called <strong>TRANSITION</strong>. A</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">nd transition is uncomfortable.</span></p><p>As someone who observes people and listens beyond what is said, I’ve seen a pattern. Here’s what I’ve seen: m<span style="background-color: transparent;">any of us are not actually behind. W</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">e are just measuring our lives with the wrong scale.</span></p><p>Social media has created a timeline that doesn’t exist in real life. <span style="background-color: transparent;">It tells you, by this age, you should have this. B</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">y now, you should be there.</span></p><p>If not, you’re late. B<span style="background-color: transparent;">ut real life doesn’t follow viral timelines.</span></p><p>Real life is slower.</p><p>Messier.</p><p>More personal.<span style="background-color: transparent;"> </span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;"><br/></span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;"><strong>Life is not a race with a universal schedule. </strong></span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;">There</span><span style="background-color: transparent;"> is no fixed age to “make it.” </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">No single definition of success.</span></p><p>Some people bloom early. </p><p>Some bloom later. </p><p>Some restart completely.</p><p>And all of them are valid.</p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/file_0000000070a4720a8b5331988146d8c0.png"/></p><p>Let me tell you something real.</p><p>Some of the people you think have it all figured out… are still confused. Some people posting wins are battling things they will never share online. S<span style="background-color: transparent;">ome journeys look fast from the outside but are heavy on the inside.</span></p><p>And you?</p><p>You’re seeing highlights and comparing them to your behind-the-scenes. T<span style="background-color: transparent;">hat comparison will always make you feel small.</span></p><p><br/></p><p>I’ve had my own moments where I questioned myself too..<span style="background-color: transparent;">Moments of doubt. </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">Moments of silence. M</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">oments where I questioned if using my words, telling stories, and creating content would ever truly matter. Moments where things didn’t move as fast as I expected. M</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">oments when effort didn’t immediately bring results.</span></p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/file_0000000069b4720a8233fb8210777a8c.png"/><span style="background-color: transparent;"></span></p><p>And during those moments…<span style="background-color: transparent;">I learned that G</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">rowth is quiet and not always visible. N</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">ot everything meaningful comes with noise. S</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">ometimes growth looks like:</span></p><p>- Writing when nobody is reading </p><p>- Showing up when nobody is clapping </p><p>- Learning when nobody is watching </p><p>- Believing when it’s easier to quit</p><p>And the truth is, </p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;">That kind of growth lasts longer. T</span>hat kind of growth builds something deeper than success. I<span style="background-color: transparent;">t builds capacity, a</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">nd capacity is what sustains success when it finally comes.</span></p><p>We don’t talk enough about the “in-between phase.”</p><p>The phase where you’re no longer who you used to but you’re not yet who you’re becoming</p><p>That space feels confusing but it is also where transformation happens.</p><p><br/></p><p>If you are reading this right now and you feel behind…<span style="background-color: transparent;">I need you to hear this, not as motivation but as truth:</span></p><p>You are not behind. Y<span style="background-color: transparent;">ou are in progress.</span></p><p>Your story is not late. I<span style="background-color: transparent;">t is unfolding.</span></p><p>At your pace.</p><p>In your time.</p><p>In your way.</p><p><br/></p><p>One day, things will align. O<span style="background-color: transparent;">ne day, your story will make sense. O</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">ne day, the same struggles you face now will become the reason someone else doesn’t give up.</span></p><p>And when that happens…<span style="background-color: transparent;">You won’t talk about how fast you moved. </span>You’ll talk about how you didn’t give up. A<span style="background-color: transparent;">nd that’s the part people don’t see yet. I</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">nstead of asking “Why am I not there yet?”</span></p><p>Start asking:</p><p>“What can I build with where I am right now?” because the people we admire today… s<span style="background-color: transparent;">tarted from somewhere uncertain too. </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">This phase you’re in right now. T</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">his confusing, slow, frustrating phase are </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">not a punishment. I</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">t is preparation.</span><span style="background-color: transparent;"> </span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;"><br/></span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;">Your story is not just about you. It’s about the lives it will touch. </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">The perspectives it will change. </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">The hope it will give. S</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">o don’t rush your life. Don’t let pressure turn your journey into panic. </span>Don’t let comparison steal your confidence.</p><p>Build.</p><p>Learn.</p><p>Improve.</p><p>Fail.</p><p>Start again. Quietly if you must even if nobody is watching.</p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/file_000000002d0072469c4c45886087159e.png"/></p><p>Because one day…<span style="background-color: transparent;">They will. A</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">nd when they do, they won’t just see your success, t</span><span style="background-color: transparent;">hey will feel your story.</span></p><p>You’re not behind in life. You’re just early in your own story.</p><p><br/></p><p>Wishing you all the best.</p><p>Share in the comment👇👇👇</p><p> What <span style="background-color: transparent;">phase of life are you currently in right now?</span></p>
