PART TWO: ENVY IN THE EMPIRE – WHEN SMALL WISDOM MEETS BIG PRIDE
<p><br/></p><p>Not everyone loved Master Ade.</p><p><br/></p><p>A <strong>sect of lesser wise men</strong> — self-proclaimed philosophers who charged people one goat per consultation — were growing angry.</p><p><br/></p><p>People stopped coming to them.</p><p><br/></p><p>Why pay for wisdom when Master Ade gave it freely?</p><p><br/></p><p>One of them, Baba Gbonka the Loud, slammed his staff.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Since when did wisdom become free water from the Odo Aro River?!”</p><p><br/></p><p>Another hissed, “This Ade is spoiling our market.”</p><p><br/></p><p>They spied on him.</p><p><br/></p><p>They heard villagers singing:</p><p><br/></p><p><em>🎵 “Master Ade o, carrier of sense,</em></p><p><em>Even my goat dey understand am…”🎵</em></p><p><br/></p><p>That night, under a crooked iroko tree, they met.</p><p><br/></p><p>“We must stop him,” one said.</p><p>“Kill him,” another added.</p><p>“But how?” Baba Gbonka asked.</p><p><br/></p><p>And that was when someone whispered…</p><p><br/></p><p>“He moves with two followers.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Silence.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then slow wicked smiles.</p><p><br/></p><p>“If we can’t catch the leopard,” Baba Gbonka said,</p><p>“we will buy the dog.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Elsewhere, Emeka was counting cowries from donations.</p><p><br/></p><p>“One… two… three… Master, wisdom dey pay o.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Master Ade looked at him long.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Musa, guard your heart.</p><p>Emeka, guide yours.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Emeka smiled… but his eyes were already elsewhere.</p><p><em><br/></em></p><p style="text-align: right;"><strong><em>To be continued…</em></strong></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
