Propaganda I'm Not Falling For: Men Don't Belong in the Kitchen

Welcome back to my series on the "propaganda" I’m just not buying. Today’s topic is a classic, outdated myth that, for some reason, still lingers: the idea that men don't belong in the kitchen.

This old-school narrative suggests that cooking is a female domain, part of a woman's natural "domestic" role, and that a man who cooks is either an exception to the rule or somehow less masculine. It's the kind of subtle messaging you still hear in jokes or see in media that portrays a man fumbling with a frying pan as if he's attempting a magic trick. This propaganda, rooted in outdated gender roles, creates a weird and completely unnecessary divide between who gets to be a home chef and who's relegated to the takeaway menu.

I'm just not falling for it. This isn't about challenging traditions; it's about acknowledging a simple truth: cooking is a life skill. It’s a creative outlet, a way to show love, and an essential part of being an independent adult. The best part? It has absolutely nothing to do with gender. Some of the world’s most celebrated chefs are men, and countless men find joy and fulfillment in preparing meals for themselves and their families.

This propaganda limits both men and women. It discourages men from learning a valuable skill and pushes women into a role they may not want. The idea that a kitchen is a male-free zone is a dusty, old script that needs to be thrown out. A man who cooks is not an anomaly; he's simply a person who knows how to feed himself and others, and there’s nothing more capable or modern than that.

At the end of each month, we give out cash prizes to 5 people with the best insights in the past month
as well as coupon points to 15 people who didn't make the top 5, but shared high-quality content.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
