STARVING: something smells fishy...
<p>The restaurant smelled like betrayal.</p><p>Not the polite, whispered kind, but the blatant, dripping in oil, audacious kind.</p><p>I had been waiting for him for twenty three minutes and eleven seconds, staring at my empty plate, imagining every golden curve of my lover, every shimmer of him glistening like sunlight on water.</p><p><br/></p><p>I imagined pulling him close, tasting him, devouring him,</p><p>and yet something in the air told me I wasn’t ready for what was coming.</p><p><br/></p><p>Fishy.</p><p><br/></p><p>Yes. Fishy.</p><p><br/></p><p>Still, I waited.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then he entered.</p><p><br/></p><p>Golden.</p><p>Glistening.</p><p>Radiant in a way that made every cell in me stand at attention.</p><p><br/></p><p>I straightened.</p><p>Prepared myself.</p><p>Adjusted in my chair.</p><p><br/></p><p>But he didn’t come to me.</p><p>Didn’t even glance my way.</p><p>He walked right past my table…</p><p><br/></p><p>…into the arms of another…</p><p><br/></p><p>Man?????</p><p><br/></p><p>I froze.</p><p>My stomach dropped.</p><p>My mind blinked before my eyes could.</p><p><br/></p><p>This strange man, bold, shameless, hungry, reached for my lover with both hands.</p><p>He lifted him gently, almost reverently, toward his lips.</p><p><br/></p><p>And he smiled,</p><p>that warm, glistening smile that made me feel betrayed through my chair.</p><p><br/></p><p>The audacity.</p><p><br/></p><p>The man leaned in.</p><p>Closer.</p><p>Closer.</p><p>And then he bit him.</p><p>A bold, scandalous, shameless bite.</p><p>Juices dripping. Oils glistening.</p><p>My lover melted in his hands.</p><p><br/></p><p>I sat there, humiliated, jealous, starving.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then a waiter tapped my shoulder.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Madam… your fish,” he said.</p><p><br/></p><p>And placed another one, golden, steaming, perfect,</p><p><br/></p><p>right in front of me.</p>
